In Short
You can encourage your baby to sit up at first by surrounding him with cushions so he can become confident to try without hurting himself.

Tummy time helps strengthen your baby’s back.

Lots of free time on a safe mat, out of the pram or sling, will encourage general strength and mobility.

How can I help my baby learn to sit up?

You can help your baby to sit up at first by supporting him from behind and breaking his fall with something soft. Other shared activities like baby yoga, playing in a swimming pool or tummy time on a rug all help to develop your baby’s strength, balance, and co-ordination.
