Maternal mental health

Having a baby is a life-changing experience. For many new mothers, it’s a happy (albeit emotional) time. However, a significant proportion of women feel anxious or depressed beyond what can be described as the ‘baby blues’, and it’s important to understand this is very common. It’s called post-natal depression. Mention it to your doctor or midwife, who will be able to offer help and support.
